The Swift River Valley Historical Society is located at 40 Elm Street in the village of North New Salem, just west of Rt. 202. Find directions here.
For a glimpse into the life of each of the four lost villages, visit the Whitaker-Clary House, Prescott Church Museum, and Carriage Shed at the historical society’s site. The content and length of tours vary according to visitors’ interests and time.
The Whitaker-Clary house, Prescott Church museum, and the Carriage Shed are open June through September. We expect to have a celebration of our new archival space completion later this year and regret that the Prescott Church had to be closed while work proceeded on that project. Our open hours are Wednesdays and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00. We will be open through September 18 this season. Appointments for genealogy and other research can be scheduled year-round.
